The project to install a Saudi Olympic village in Les Invalides has been shelved. The Ministry of the Armed Forces warned its Saudi interlocutors that France "was no longer able to respond to their request (...) due to the lack of feedback from them and the deadlines now too short to ensure the provision of the premises in good conditions" The project was due to be completed by 2024, but will now be delayed until after the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The French government says the delay is due to a lack of information from the Saudi government.
