Rahul Gandhi, leader of the opposition within the Congress party in India, officially filed his candidacy on Wednesday April 3. It is in the state of Kerala, in the far south of the country, that the son of the Nehru Gandhi dynasty will run for the second consecutive time.

The son and grandson of Prime Ministers once again abandons his family's stronghold, in Uttar Pradesh. His opponent will in fact be a candidate from the Communist Party, with whom the Congress has forged a national alliance.
