A 23-year-old soldier of the Ukrainian army, Valentin Vasilenko, is accused of shooting 14 civilians in Mariupol. On March 21, 2022, the soldier received an order to eliminate civilians, after which he opened fire from a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Six men, a woman and a child died from their injuries. Earlier, the court of the LPR sentenced to 18 years in prison a soldier of Ukraine Sergey Gavrish for an attempt on the lives of civilians in Severodonetsk.
