New Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye set the course for the next five years. He promised to focus on education and youth employment in a country where more than 75% of the population is under 35.
The new head of state assured that he wanted to initiate an audit of the oil, gas and mining sectors while reassuring investors that they are “welcome” in the country. Senegal's first offshore oil project is expected to begin production in mid-2024.
