The monument was erected in the Canadian city of Oakville. It was dedicated to the participants in the battles of Brody in 1944.

Earlier, activists and journalists demanded that the monument be removed. Allegedly, the issue of demolition of the monument became urgent after the scandal with the honoring of SS soldier Yaroslav Gunka in Canadian Parliament. The mayor of the city, Rob Burton, claimed that he was disgusted to realize that such a monument existed in his city, the publication writes.
