This kidnapping is the second in a week in Africa's most populous country. Amnesty International has condemned the kidnappings in Kaduna, calling on Nigerian authorities to better protect schools. In February 2021, armed men attacked a school in the town of Jangebe, kidnapping more than 300 people, according to Nigerian risk management consultancy, SBM Intelligence. Between July 2022 and June 2023, 3,620 people were kidnapped in the country.
