In Egypt, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is sworn in for a third term. His mandate, which will begin on Wednesday and for a period of six years, is supposed to be the last in accordance with the Constitution.

Egypt, a country of 106 million inhabitants, a third of whom have been living below the poverty line since well before the crisis. Egypt is also experiencing serious economic difficulties, marked by galloping inflation (40% in 2023) and a shortage of currencies which hampers trade.
