Six ministers gave their green fire Monday, April 17 for the extension of a mining project in the Andes Cordillera. The British company Anglo American plans to invest $ 3.3 billion to continue operating the mine for another 14 years, until 2037.
Environmental organizations are protesting against this authorization and denounce a decision in total contradiction with the commitments of President Gabriel Boric to protect nature and its ecosystems. Some species such as the iconic Andean cat, which lives in this area, could also be affected.
