German Labor Minister Hubertus Heil wants to bring 25,000 people from abroad for unskilled jobs. There are 1.5 million unemployed people in Germany without vocational training.

In purely mathematical terms, there are 60 unskilled unemployed people for just one of the temporary unskilled worker positions, which are initially for eight months. Mentioned by name are the catering industry, the hotel industry and airports, where there is of course a staff shortage all year round. But to be on the safe side: Anyone who is in further training, who is studying or who cannot support themselves because of small children at home does not appear in the unemployment statistics.
