Kenya launched its first practical satellite on Saturday. The satellite bears the name "Taifa 1" (Taifa1), which means "nation 1" in local Swahili.

The main mission of the moon will be mainly environmental and food, as Kenya suffers from the worst drought it has seen in decades. At least 13 African countries have launched 50 satellites, such as Algeria, Angola, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan and Rwanda, but none of these satellites were launched from African territory.
