In Hong Kong, voices of opposition to the government have been strictly suppressed since the enactment of the Hong Kong National Security Act. Three members of the pro-democracy group Social Democratic Federation held a demonstration in front of the government building.

The Hong Kong government is aiming to enact a "national security ordinance" soon to crack down on theft of state secrets and acts of espionage. One woman who participated in the demonstration said, "The most frightening thing is that the whole of Hong Kong is in fear"
