House Speaker Kevin McCarthy warned that negotiators should come to an agreement on the overall parameters of the deal by the weekend. The US Treasury Department noted that if the country's authorities do not raise the debt ceiling or suspend it, then by June 1, Washington will have nothing to pay off creditors.
