Sunderby Hospital is the only hospital in Norrbotten that trains people with substance abuse and addiction disorders in how to reverse an overdose. "It saves lives," says Cia Larsson, a nurse at the hospital's syringe exchange clinic.

The nasal spray naloxone reverses opioid overdoses, i.e. overdoses on drugs such as morphine, heroin and methadone. But the spray is harmless to give even if it would not be opioids taken before, says Larsson.
