Over 6000,2022 Gothenburg residents have received Swedish citizenship in <> and been invited to a big celebration. One of them is Rasha Shaaban from Egypt.
"For me, Swedish citizenship means security, freedom, being a full citizen and being myself without shame," says Shaaban. Since 2015, it has been mandatory for municipalities to organise citizenship ceremonies for new citizens. But in Gothenberg it has already been celebrated for many years. According to the chairman of the municipal executive board Jonas Attenius (S), it is important to highlight the new residents.
