Five-year-old John Walter died at an HVB home where the municipality had placed him. The accommodation had been criticised several times by the Health and Social Care Inspectorate.

John Walter absconded after being left unattended. He was later found drowned in Uvån, near the residence. Two employees were convicted of manslaughter. The verdict has been appealed both by the employees and by John Walter's father Hans-Erik Sjöholm, who wants the employees to be convicted of aggravated manslaughter.
