Rocket launched from base in French Guiana in South America. Probe to reach three of Jupiter's 92 moons and investigate what is believed to be the ocean beneath the thick ice sheet.
Probe contains instruments, some of which have taken 18 years to develop. The journey to Jupiter alone takes eight years. The hope is to find something that at least resembles amino acids in Jupiter's ocean beneath its thick ice sheets. The mission is to take place over a period of 10 years, starting in 2018 and ending in 2022.
