Cologne Higher Regional Court bans further passages from Heribert Schwan's tell-all book about former Chancellor Helmut Kohl. The author describes the verdict as “unbelievable’ Kohl sued Schwan, arguing that comments made public by Schwan were never intended for the public.
Kohl was Chancellor from 1982 to 1998, and German reunification took place during his reign. The book contained unauthorized statements from the former Federal Chancellor, in particular drastic value judgments about other politicians.
