On May 1, Norrbotten's milk-producing farmers will receive 60 öre less for each liter produced. For dairy farmer Lars Eriksson, income decreases by tens of thousands of kronor a month – and he himself was involved in making the decision on the financial steel bath.
The family has been farming since the 1920s and together with his brother Lars has worked as a milk producer since the happy 80s. If this trend continues with prices falling, there will certainly be many who will choose to phase out and close down production.
