[HIGHLIGHTS] Georgia has not yet received Russia's requests for the resumption of flights between the countries

The Russian side has not yet applied to Georgia for permission to resume flights between the countries. The Ministry of Transport of Russia said that domestic airlines are preparing for the resumption of flights to Georgia.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili called on the authorities to convene the Security Council to discuss the visa regime for Russians. The Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on Russian airlines to fly to Georgia earlier this week. The ban was imposed after the European Union imposed sanctions on Russia over the Ukraine crisis.
