U.S. Congressman George Santos is charged after lies about his life, work and studies.

He is accused of fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds and false testimony. The New York Times published a damning investigation that called into question virtually his entire resume. Santos came to Washington presenting himself as the perfect example of the "American dream," writes Peter Bergen, a professor at the University of New York's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He was elected to the House of Representatives last year in a district of Long Island.
