Israel has submitted the report requested by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on measures to prevent genocide in the Gaza Strip. The country thus complied with a deadline set by the court.

Human Rights Watch accused Israel of failing to comply with at least one of the UN court's requirements. Israel strongly denies the allegations of genocide. It invoked its right to self-defense after terrorists from Hamas and other extremist groups attacked southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people. The high number of deaths provided impetus for South Africa's prosecution under the Genocide Convention.
