UN Security Council on Monday adopted its first resolution demanding an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza. The United States abstained.

The resolution, adopted by 14 votes in favor, with one abstention, "demands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan" - which already began two weeks ago. It should "lead to a ceasefire lasting" and "dem demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages", the resolution says. The U.S. has blocked several times by the United States, this time abstaining.
