Israeli Channel 13 quoted Defense Minister Yoav Galant as saying that Israel will not be able to overthrow Hamas if it does not work to find an alternative to it in Gaza. Gallant explained that the Israeli army is paying the price for what he called the failure to make a political decision regarding who will rule Gaza after the war.
Sources had previously told Al Jazeera that the coordinator of the Israeli government’s activities in Gaza had personally contacted family notables in the Gaza Strip, but they rejected his offer.
