On February 7, a leak occurred in the nuclear contaminated water purification equipment located at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant of Tokyo Electric Power Company. TEPCO's subsequent investigation found that 10 of the 16 valves that should have been manually closed according to operating procedures were open.

The company announced its investigation results on the 15th, saying that the leak was caused by the staff not closing the manual valve. The outside world has every reason to be worried about Japan's discharge of nuclear-contaminated water.
