The UN Human Rights Council spent more than three hours discussing the human rights situation in France. The France is singled out in particular for police violence during demonstrations against the pension reform.

A large number of countries, including the United States but also Tunisia, have called on the France to increase its efforts to combat violence and racial discrimination. The police, target of many criticisms, were also highlighted by several delegations, such as Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The French delegation tried to defend itself against the criticism.
