Former British Prime Minister Theresa May announces retirement from parliament without running in next general election. It is reported that many members of the ruling Conservative Party, to which former PM Theresa May belongs, have decided not to run.

Former Prime Minister May became Britain's second female prime minister after the referendum in 2016 to leave the European Union. She subsequently negotiated difficult negotiations with the EU and obtained an agreement on the terms of withdrawal, but she was unable to secure support in the British Parliament and resigned in 2019.
