ESCWA: The war on Gaza and the Sudan conflict are weighing heavily on Arab economies. According to the report, poverty rates in low-income Arab countries and those affected by conflicts jumped from 56% and 45% in 2019 to about 63% and 50% in 2023.
ESCWA indicates a potential decline in the average gross domestic product by 3.8% during the period 2023-2025 in the least developed Arab countries. The supervisor of the report preparation team confirmed that the situation of the Arab countries affected by the conflicts is unclear.
