The mayors are fiercely opposed to the proposed deposit for plastic bottles. For them, increasing the price of a product and then reimbursing the amount added when the consumer returns the plastic to be recycled, complicates the sorting gesture.
Some of them believe that not all French people have yet integrated the right way of sorting: all plastics, including bottles, are now thrown into the yellow bin. For their part, the NGOs regret that the consultation is only interested in recycling and not in the reuse of glass bottles.
