Displaced Crimean Tartar ten years after the annexation: "The longing to return home remains" Lierane and her family had to flee from Russian soldiers several times. Now they live in western Ukraine, but they don't give up hope of returning home one day.

Estimates put the number of Crimean Tatars at around 40,000 to 70,000 who have left Crimea since the Russian annexation. Numerous Crimean Tatar journalists and activists have since been arrested and kidnapped - and hope for better times.
