Desert locusts should benefit from global warming, according to a study published in Science Advances. A swarm of one square kilometer can devour 35,000 people in one day.

Researchers warn of the risk of synchronized attacks in several countries thanks to floods and winds. In the scenario of an economy based on fossil fuels, the areas invaded by these insects could increase by 13 to 25%. Countries not accustomed to these insects, such as western India, Iran, Afghanistan or Turkmenistan, could be reached.
