A national tribute will be paid in France for Robert Badinter. The former Minister of Justice, father of the abolition of the death penalty in France in 1981, died on the night of Thursday February 8 to Friday February 9 at the age of 95.

He was considered a European, a jurist of the highest level and convinced that human rights should be imposed even on States. In recent years, he has been one of the whistleblowers in France on the consequences of the war in Ukraine for the European Union.
