The first stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné was won by Belgium's Rune Herregodts. The 30-year-old was the only rider to finish ahead of the rest of the peloton.
He will now defend his yellow jersey, which he will wear for the next three stages of the Tour de France. The race will finish in Paris on Sunday, June 24. The second stage will take place on Monday, June 25, with a stage between Paris and Bordeaux.
