The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) held a meeting of members of both houses of parliament after failing to win a seat in last month's by-election for the House of Representatives. The meeting lasted about two and a half hours, and Secretary General Okada indicated that he would aim to field candidates in more than 100 single-member constituencies.

Participants requested that the party clearly communicate what it wanted to do, and that it should clearly state that its position is different from that of the Japan Restoration Party.
