EU Commission proposes by 2040, the EU should reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 90 percent compared to 1990. This would mean that most of the path to climate neutrality would have been completed well before the middle of the century.
The proposal also calls for expanding renewable energy and advancing carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies.
