The temperature at the Earth's surface is on track to increase by 2.7°C by 2100 compared to the pre-industrial era. This is expected to expose more than 2 billion people to dangerous heat.

India (600 million), Nigeria (300 million) or Indonesia (100 million) are the countries with the highest number of people who could face deadly heat in this scenario. The world is already experiencing warming close to 1.2°C as a result of human activity, including the use of fossil fuels.
