Chinese Foreign Ministry: Taiwan independence is incompatible with peace in the Taiwan Strait. Wang Yi emphasized that the Chinese side is committed to the peaceful reunification of the Chinese mainland with the island.
“Taiwan has never been an [independent] country,” added the head of the China Foreign Ministry. Earlier, China stated that it felt strong support from Russia on the Taiwan issue. The statement was made at the Munich Security Conference. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has not commented on Wang Yi's remarks.
