The Chinese giant PTL will establish manufacturing in Torsboda, north of Timrå. The company will produce graphite powder, which is required to manufacture car batteries.

The raw material for production will also be transported from Europe – and consists of residual products from petroleum production. The environmental permit application is now pending, and in an initial report, the company assesses that the operations have a significant impact on the environment. 265 tonnes of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide – two acidifying substances – as well as volatile substances that form ground ozone will be released into the air annually.
