China strives to build a number of world-class aviation hubs by 2050. The number of airports with a passenger throughput of 10 million has increased from 21 in 2012 to 39 before the epidemic.

Beijing and Shanghai are among the 10 cities in the world with annual passenger throughput exceeding 100 million (person-times). Beijing Capital, Shanghai Pudong, and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport have 133, 142, and 92 international access points respectively. The Civil Aviation Administration of China will take multiple measures to effectively enhance the international competitiveness of China's aviation hubs.
