Cherry blossoms gifted by the Mayor of Tokyo more than 100 years ago are in full bloom. Approximately 3,800 cherry trees were planted in Washington as a gift from the then mayor of Tokyo in 1912.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is held every year to coincide with the blooming season. This year, the cherry blossoms reach their peak bloom more than a week earlier than usual, and many people are enjoying themselves by taking photos and having picnics under the trees. The festival will be held until the middle of next month.
