Chad declares a food emergency with the influx of refugees from Sudan. Since the start of the conflict in Sudan, about 547,000 new refugees have arrived in Chad, in addition to those already present.

The World Food Program provides food assistance to about 1.4 million people in Chad. In total, this country must deal with more than 1,570,000 “people in forced displacement,” including 1.1 million refugees. The others are internally displaced due to a rebellion waged by armed groups against the military junta led by General Déby.
