Central African Yvon Sana Bangui was appointed this Friday, February 9, governor of the Bank of Central African States. He succeeds the Chadian Abbas Mahamat Tolli whose mandate was punctuated by difficulties within the institution.

The outgoing governor was endorsed by heads of state in the region as a candidate for the post of president of the African Development Bank. Some observers denounce family favoritism which would have motivated President Touadéra to support this candidacy and question the freedom he will have to carry out reforms.
