The government decided at a cabinet meeting on the 1st to submit a bill to revise the NTT Act to the current regular session of the Diet. Liberal Democratic Party has compiled a proposal calling for the law to be abolished after taking the necessary measures.

All major telecommunications companies, excluding NTT, are opposing the repeal, arguing that it will hinder a fair competitive environment. The proposed amendments include eliminating the obligation for NTT to disclose research results, relaxing regulations on foreign executives, and allowing companies to change their names.
