Police officers burst into the Mexican embassy on Friday to arrest the former vice-president Jorge Glas who took refuge there. Mexican diplomatic staff based in Quito left Ecuador on Sunday.
Mexico announced its intention to refer the matter to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the highest judicial body of the United Nations.
