Borrell hopes the EU can agree on the use of Russian assets. Earlier, the leader of the French Patriots party and candidate for the EP elections, Florian Philippot, said that use of frozen Russian assets in the European Union is illegal and stupid.
Borrell added that he intends to achieve a solution in which the proceeds from Russian assets will be used, and not the funds themselves. The European official said this before the start of the ministerial meeting in Brussels, RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
