Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. left on Sunday, April 30 for a visit to the United States.

In his 10th official trip abroad since taking office last year, the Philippine president will meet with his counterpart Joe Biden. Meeting comes in a context of rapprochement between the two traditional allies, a few days after major joint military maneuvers and in the midst of tensions with China. The summit meeting on Monday will aim to reaffirm the special relations between the traditional allies who signed in 1951, in the middle of the Korean War, a security treaty.
