Operation Metropolis 2024 is the first counter-terrorism military exercise in an urban area since 2021. A little less than a thousand men were mobilized for the exercise, which ended at the end of the week.
The exercise mobilized just under 900 special forces elements from the army, air force, navy and police. It was an essentially Beninese operation, there were no foreign evaluators or instructors, an officer insists on this detail. The objective is to be operational and effective in the event of attacks in urban areas.
