Mattel launches new model of Barbie doll carrying trisomy 21. Doll is smaller than the average Barbie, has a longer torso compared to the rest of its body, smaller ears, a flat nasal bridge and almond-shaped eyes.
New version of the series is available online and will go on sale in stores this summer. Revenue from Mattel's doll division fell 9% in 2022, mainly due to slowing sales of Barbie and the American Girl and Spirit lines. The Californian company launched "round", "small" and "large" versions of Barbie.
