An accomplice in the attack on Pskov paratroopers in 2000 was detained in Dagestan. Islam Batsiev was taken into custody; he will soon be charged with armed rebellion, participation in a gang and encroachment on the life of a serviceman.
In May 2023, it was reported that Russian special services detained three ex-militants of the groups Shamil Basayev and Khattab, who took part in the murder of 84 Pskovsky paratrooper in February 2000.
