[HIGHLIGHTS] Amid growing alarm over the situation in North Korea, the Asian Security Conference will begin today

The Asian Security Conference will be held in Singapore from June 2 to 4. It will be attended by defense ministers from Asia, the U.S.

and Europe. The conference comes as North Korea prepares to launch a second military satellite. It is also expected to discuss how to improve the security of the South China Sea and the East China Sea. The meeting will be the first of its kind between the United States, Japan and South Korea. It comes as China and the United Nations are set to hold talks on the North Korean nuclear program.
