Two people in Afghanistan were each punished with 35 lashes because of allegations of adultery. Supreme Court said the punishment was carried out on Thursday in the capital Kabul.

It is the second known case of flogging in a week. On Tuesday, a man was flogged for suspected homosexual acts in the western province of Farah. Just last weekend, the supreme Taliban leader Haibatullah Achundsada promised the full introduction of Sharia law. In an audio message, he specifically mentioned punishments for adultery such as stoning and public flogging.
